A Quick Guide to Creating Your First Lifelike Experience

Updated this week

Before diving in, let’s ensure this guide is right for you:

  • Are you a CGI Studio, an Enviz CGI Partner, or a modelling company experienced in creating high-detail models using 3ds Max?

  • If not, this guide might not suit your needs. Check out our other articles on lifelike experiences or explore Space AI, which may be a better fit.

What is a Lifelike Space?

A Lifelike space is a high-quality, detailed experience created by you, our trusted CGI Partner. Your meticulously crafted model is transformed by the Enviz team into an immersive augmented reality experience, accessible on any device.

Unlike Space AI, Lifelike experiences are bespoke and require collaboration with a skilled team of artists to bring them to life. It’s essential to align your model with our guidelines to ensure the best results within your timeline and budget.

What Do You Need to Begin?

To create a lifelike experience, Enviz requires:

  1. A Complete Model:

    • Created in 3ds Max using Corona or VRay rendering engines.

  2. Model Compliance:

    • Your scene must adhere to Enviz’s guidelines (see below).

  3. 360-Degree Renders:

    • A set of approved renders reviewed by your client for quality assurance.

  4. 360-Degree Environment Sphere Image:

    • Included within your 3ds Max scene.

  5. Archived Scene:

    • Ensure all relevant files and textures are properly archived before delivery.

  6. Lighting Setup:

    • Global lighting settings must be used (not per camera or exposure).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do You Have a Polygon Size Limit?

No, we do not have a limit. However, we recommend minimising excessive detail in areas like planting, clothing, and decor to streamline the process.

Do I Need to Optimise My Scene?

No, we prefer to receive your scene as-is to ensure the best output.

Why Can’t I Use an Existing Render-Optimised Scene?

While it is possible, scenes designed for rendering often lack elements needed for VR:

  • Missing sections of the model (e.g., ceilings or unseen walls).

  • Incorrect lighting settings (adjusted for rendering exposure, not VR).

  • Gaps in walls, floors, or ceilings, causing light leaks.

Is a 360 Image Tour the Same as a Lifelike Experience?

No, a lifelike experience allows full exploration without being confined to fixed points like in a 360 tour. Users can freely walk around and interact with the environment.

Can Enviz Edit My Scene?

We recommend limiting your scene to key areas, such as one or two rooms, if time is a concern. Focus on refining smaller sections for the best results.

Uploading Your Files

Prepare Your Files

Before submitting, ensure your deliverables include:

  • 360 Review Images: Uploaded to the designated portal section.

  • Archived 3ds Max Scene: Ensure all texture maps and files are properly saved.

  • Environment Spheres: Drone photography or custom environment spheres.

  • Post-Processing Settings: Relevant for VRay and Corona only.

Submit Your Files

  1. Upload all required files to the Enviz Portal.

  2. Submit your files once all components are uploaded.

Important: Files can be uploaded without payment, but conversion will not begin until payment is processed. Contact your sales representative if specific terms apply.

What Happens Next?

File Review

Our team reviews your files for compliance. If adjustments are needed, we’ll reach out for revisions. Delays may occur if guidelines are not followed, so ensure thorough checks before submission.

Conversion Underway

Once approved, the conversion process begins. Timeframes will be communicated during quoting or file review and depend on project complexity. During this time, explore the Enviz Portal to upload marketing materials or prepare devices to view your experience. Our platform is available on Tablet, Mobile, Desktop, and VR Headsets. For an extensive list of device compatibility, see here.

Experience Complete

When the conversion is finished, you will receive an email notification. Our team will also follow up directly if needed.

Revisions

Included Revisions

We allow one round of revisions. Ensure all feedback (yours and your client’s) is consolidated into this round. Additional changes beyond this stage may incur charges.

If you require a revision, you can submit a request through the Enviz Portal. Alternatively, please reach out directly to the Enviz team who can assist you further.

Conversion Errors

This revision is to identify all errors that may have occurred. However, please note that we only cost for Conversion Errors. What is a Conversion Error?

  • What Qualifies as a Conversion Error?
Anything that looks obviously different between your 360 review images and the finished output. This could include:

    • Textures appear blurry or overly compressed.

    • Light leaks or gaps are visible.

    • Black or broken objects.

    • Z-fighting issues.

    • Non-reflective glass.

  • What Does Not Qualify?

    • Model updates or style changes.

    • These can be addressed at an additional cost based on scope.

Sales Training and Additional Work

If you need further revisions or are ready for a new project, contact our sales team. They can provide tailored solutions and quotes. For guidance on selling Enviz products or assisting your clients, explore our dedicated training articles.
