Enviz Pro - Advanced Workflow

Summary

The Advanced Tools option, located within Plugin Setings enables internal production tools to become available inside the Enviz Pro plugin.

These tools are primarily focused on:

  • Structured layer management

  • Pre-emptive layer consolidation prior to baking

  • Granular scene control

By aligning your workflow with Enviz’s internal production standards, the Advanced Workflow improves collaboration efficiency and ensures scenes progress toward Enviz-quality output.

Generic Examples:

  • the original mesh data is kept throughout the process of baking - when baking commences, it proceeds to:

  1. back up the layer

  2. combine objects to a single object per layer sent

  3. Bake each layer

  4. Import Bakes button pressed

  5. Restore previous mesh & deletes the combined mesh

  6. Finally applies the textures

  • Layers do not have a suffix added to the end of the layer name to reference a bake size

The Advanced Tools workflow places greater emphasis on structured layer organisation.

Advanced Examples:

  • Mesh data is kept combined once you have baked a layer - this condenses the materials/Material IDs into a single multi-sub material

  • Layers use a suffix at the end of a layer ("1008_Cabinets_4k", "0201_Ceiling_4k") to help clarity when managing your project

  • Various UV manipulation buttons to make adjustments

Key Differences

While these differences may appear subtle, and the overall workflow changes may seem minimal, the impact is significant. The Advanced Workflow enables users to confidently manage and process substantially larger and more complex models with improved stability and performance.

  • Reduced scene complexity to improve bake stability and performance

  • Improved clarity for production handover

Scene Layer Toolkit (Advanced)

Select Dence:

The Select Dense function identifies and isolates geometry that is considered computationally heavy.

Calculations

Density is determined using the following formula:

Surface Area (m²) ÷ Vertex Count

If the resulting value exceeds a predefined threshold, the object is classified as dense. This allows you to quickly locate high-density geometry that may negatively impact:

  • Bake performance

  • Viewport responsiveness

  • Scene optimisation


Select Reflection:

The Select Reflection will collect all the objects in your selection that match the following criteria:

  • Reflection IOR of 3.0 or over

  • Refraction IOR of 3.0 or over

In addition to this, the material also must have a Reflection value of over 0.5 to also collect the object. It will then proceed to select all of the objects that are considered reflective and isolate them.


Explode by Material:

The Explode by Material function separates the selected geometry into multiple objects based on assigned materials. Each material group becomes its own object, enabling:

  • Improved layer organisation

  • More controlled baking

  • Easier material-specific adjustments


Place in NB:

The Place in NB function moves selected objects to the: ZZZ_NOBAKE_Visible layer. This layer acts as a structured storage area for geometry that:

  • Is not intended to bake

  • Should remain visible

  • Must still exist within the scene for reference or production purposes

Nested Layer Handling - If the selected object originates from a nested (sub/child) layer:

  • The original layer structure is preserved

  • A new layer is created with the prefix:
    ZZZ_NB_

This ensures scene organisation remains structured and traceable.
Should you need to restore or retrieve the object later, it can be located easily within its corresponding prefixed layer.

Organising Packs (Advanced)

Similar to how the Place Selection in New Layer button works in the default settings, the Advanced options provides a manual approach and will always add a bake size suffix at the end of a layer.

In addition, you have the ability to monitor the surface area of your selected objects when you toggle the "Enable" checkbox.

Process Layers (Advanced)

Combine Objects:

Similar to how the Place Selection in New Layer works, the Combine function also uses the same features of placing the object in a sublayer if it hasn't yet. In Addition, it will also combine all the objects together, merging all the materials/Material IDs along with moving the highest UV channel to channel 8 .

When to use this?

Typically you only want to use this button once you have unwrapped an object using the automated unwrapping OR you have manually packed the layer on a UV channel and want to set up your layer in preparation for baking.

It is highly recommended you use the automated unwrapping in the beginning and then (if needed) continue to make manual adjustments afterwards.


UV channel manipulation:

All 3 buttons shown below are simple functions that allow you to make adjustments if needed.

Tip/Reminder: Layers are only considered unwrapped if they have a channel 8

  • Delete Channel 8 UVs:

    Removes the channel 8 of a selected layer which will also remove the UV tag.

  • Move to Channel 8:

    This moves all the highest UV channels (per object) to channel 8

  • 8 to 2:

    This move UV channel 8 to UV channel 2
